Our Treasures
Who can explain how an item becomes a treasure? Some of your possessions may be obvious treasures in that they have a market value that can be easily determined such as jewelry, automobiles, real estate, various collections etc. And it’s important to designate the next recipient now before your estate is parsed out or valuables are lost in a sale or worse, in the trash. Maybe some of your most valuable treasures are memories made with your family: trips, birthdays, graduations, reunions etc. You can upload pictures, videos, audios and documents to keep and share with your trove members.
But what about the rocking chair your great-grandfather made and your grandmother used to rock the family babies to sleep? A quick search online might give you a range of values if you wanted to sell it in a general marketplace but that might prove disappointing. The memories you associate with that rocking chair makes it much more valuable. And the family tradition that could continue with it puts that chair securely in the Family Treasure Trove.
It’s entirely up to you to determine your treasures. When you add them to your treasure trove, take the time to tell your family/friends about the item’s significance. They are much more likely to keep that chair if they know the history behind it.
