Basic Field Types
Choose a field type based on the value you want people to enter. These simpler types are available in the item type editor.
String
A single line of short text. Good for names, titles, places, and brief labels.
Text
Plain longer text for notes and descriptions. Use RichText when formatting is useful.
RichText
Long-form text with rich formatting, suited to descriptions and stories.
Integer, Float, Double, Number
Numeric values. Integer is for whole numbers; Float and Double support decimal values; Number is the general numeric field used by the form.
MoneyValue
This field type is present in the type system, but the current item editor does not register a dedicated MoneyValue input handler. For a flexible monetary amount or range, use VagueValue, which has an active editor and handles currency.
Boolean
A yes/no or true/false value.
Date and DateTime
Date stores a calendar date; DateTime includes a time component. For imprecise historical dates, consider VagueDate instead.
CategorySingle and CategoryMulti
Choose one or multiple values from a category set managed in the Trove. Configure the field's category set in the type editor. Categories provide controlled, reusable choices and can support filtering.
UserList
Select one or more users who have access to the Trove. The built-in Person type requires this field for Authorized Representative(s).
Custom
Identifies a user-defined/custom type name. It is useful for custom schemas, but a custom name alone does not create a specialized input control; specialized behavior depends on application support.
