Trove Roles and Access
A Trove role controls what a person can see and do inside one Trove. Roles form a hierarchy: Owner, Administrator, Editor, Member, and then Visitor. A higher role includes the ordinary access of roles below it.
What each role can do
- Owner: Full control of the Trove, including settings, membership, content, backups, and import/export. A Trove Owner can transfer ownership to another Trove Member (if they accept the transfer). The Owner is also the one whose subscription is charged to enable Cloud Sync for the Trove. If a Trove is transferred, the recipient becomes the new Owner and it is their subscription that must support the Trove.
- Administrator: Everything an Owner can do except initiate transfer of Ownership.
- Editor: Adds, edits, and deletes items; can manage item categories and reports. Editors cannot manage membership, Trove settings, backups, or import/export.
- Member: Views items and participates in discussions. Members do not edit items.
- Visitor: Read-only access to items. Visitors cannot participate in discussions or edit Trove content.
Where access appears
The Trove navigation shows pages available to your role. Contents are available to all Trove members. Discussions require Member or higher; reports require Editor or higher; settings, backups, and Import/Export require Owner or Administrator. Membership is visible to all Trove members, while management actions depend on your role.
Owners and Administrators can manage member roles from Membership, subject to their own authority.
